Thank you for this wonderful source of help for our furbabies! Blackie was recently diagnosed and I have recently begun insulin and testing. This is my first visit and I would appreciate someone reviewing my spreadsheet, which should be attached, to see if it looks ok.

I will likely have more treatment questions, but today I would like to confirm that I selected the correct spreadsheet for the US with a Walmart ReliOn Tester and ReliOn Test Strips. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks again, Ann

Hi! And Welcome. Looks like you have to re-do a new spreadsheet. The one you have now, if you see the big white text in the red on top, is for 'USING METER CALIBRATED FOR FELINE BLOOD (e.g. ALPHA TRAK)' :)

I know that is not easy to get the right one.

I copied out this concerning Creating A Spreadsheet in Tech forum. You should have chosen 2. US Spreadsheet Template - For Human Meters.

"Instructions for Using a Template to Create a Spreadsheet

Please read Steps 1-10 FIRST before creating Spreadsheet.

1. If you do not have a google account, please create a new account (you can use an existing email address) at Google Signup.

2. Click on this link for the US Spreadsheet Template for HUMAN METERS:

If you are anywhere other than the US, please click on this link for the World Spreadsheet Template for HUMAN METERS:

3. A copy of the template chosen will open. In the upper left corner, click on “File” and then the fifth choice down “Make a Copy”."

Sorry for the inconvenience! :):bighug:

Hi and welcome.
I would strongly advise that you always test before every insulin shot to make sure it is safe to give the insulin and test again during the cycle somewhere between +3and +7 to see how low the dose is taking your kitty.
When you get a lower number, I would always try again to see that the BG is rising again not falling.
I don’t use Prozinc so am Tagging @Deb & Wink Re the dose

Thank you An & Scatcats for your kindness. I thought I had made that mistake but before redoing it all, I decided it best to ask. I'll fix it today and repost. Thanks again, Ann

You really really need to test before every single shot, test more during the cycles and then you REALLY need to get some PM tests too. Cats go lower at night, and you're shooting blind every PM cycle and that is very very dangerous.
Also.... you're increasing way too fast. We increase in 0.25U at a time, so you might be way past the optimal dose.

I'm sure Deb will have more advice for you, when she's online later this evening :bighug:

I think I finally have the spreadsheet correct now, and realize I posted this is the wrong section. So feel free to move it if you like. I've been following my vet's advise on dosage but do understand what you're saying about slower dosage increases. Since we had unusually low readings on 3/18, we have begin testing before each meal. I would have been testing more often had it not been for difficulty getting blood sometimes. I'm not very good at this but am getting better because my sweet Blackie is being so patient with me. Thank you all for your wise help and guidance.

We've all been exactly where you are! :bighug:
