Hi everyone! Sorry I am just getting back to you all with an update. Peyton is still at the vet and started Lantus yesterday afternoon. Vet should be calling me with an update after lunch.
Peyton is underweight and will have to get an exact number when I pick him up. I'll update you all soon so we can get on the road to recovery :)

Great to hear that he's at least on Lantus now instead of the Novolin! It's a much different insulin than Novolin but a much better one too!

If your vet has been doing curves, make sure to get all those numbers so you can plug them into your spreadsheet. Don't forget to change your signature box to say you're using Lantus now too!

Have you transitioned Peyton off the Dry and wet W/D yet or has the vet been feeding what he wanted to (and if so, it's important to know what they've been feeding him)

Hopefully he'll be home soon so you can have your furkid back where he belongs!
 
Vet said he didn't like the dry WD and ate the wet ok but he devoured the food when he gave him regular food. I will have to find out what that was.

Good boy Peyton!! You know that dry food isn't good for you!!

Even the wet W/D is 25% carbs, and we want him eating under 10%. I know you were working on finding some lower carb foods that he'd eat. Hopefully you'll be able to transition him onto some of them! Feeding foods that are too high in carbs is like pouring gasoline on a fire to try to put it out...it just doesn't work

I know it seems like there are a lot of "Rules" in the sugardance, but they will really help Peyton to live a longer and healthier life. Since he already has some kidney issues, we want to try to get him under renal threshold to take some of that pressure off and hopefully keep him from progressing further into kidney failure.

Let us know what the vet said when you get all that information! Hopefully he's already responding better to the Lantus
 
Sure do hope that Peyton get's to come home with you soon. I bet you miss him terribly and can't wait to hug him bunches.
