Hi seems I already misposted on the wrong page. Sorry computers are hard for me to navigate.

I just adopted an 11 year old rescue who was with the sanctuary almost 2 years. He was diabetic and on insulin but since Jan 2021 they have gotten him in remission yeahh. They had been feeding him 5 x a day at about 2 hr intervals 1/4 cup of Fancy feast classic pate, or Sheba pate or Halo. low carb, high protein. I have had him for 2 weeks and have continued with their canned food choice and schedule.

He is doing well except for occasional vomit of a bit of bile looking stuff early in the morning like 3 or 4 am.

I want to transition to a healthier canned or raw food etc but am overwhelmed by the list and calling raw companies etc. I must do the best for him. Any raw company or precooked recommendations will help

Thank you so much
Kat

Where do you live? Different products are available in different countries. I fed mostly raw made locally, or home made with a premix. Bron makes her own too.

Thank you for rescuing your rescue kitty!

I'm in the US (Wendy is in Canada and Bron is in Australia) and I feed a partial homemade raw diet. I use a pre-mix. This is basically a powder that contains all of the supplements to make raw food nutritionally complete for a cat's diet. You add water to the premix and combine it with the raw protein. It's very easy and you can buy whatever proteins you are able to source. The brand I use is called EZComplete.

I'm not sure if you found this list of canned foods that are available in the US and to some extent in Canada. The higher quality foods that I'm most familiar with are ZiwiPeak, Weruva, and Tiki Cat. You want to select foods that are less than 10% carbohydrate (although most people here feed their cats in the 5% range). Some of the other members who will stop by may have their favorites, as well. (With Weruva, make sure you're getting a variety that is nutritionally complete.)
