I have a diabetic cat. He is 9 years old, about 18 pounds, and doesn't appear to be fat. He's just a big cat. He is long and tall. His name is Vader. We have tried Libre so we can watch his levels more closely. I have had 3 put on so far in the last 3 weeks. He keeps getting them off. I have tried a infant t-shirt (actually a tank top because he's long haired and I didn't want him to get hot) but somehow he still got it off. Maybe I should try an actual t shirt instead. I am getting him shaved on the 8th (being a black long haired cat he looks funny with 3 shaved spots). I don't know what else I can do to keep him from getting the monitor off. My vet suggested a cone but I don't like those. His sleeping place is a small area that he can hide in. I'm afraid with the cone he will not be able to get into his favorite place. With his last one (came off last night after 3 days) his level was HI most of the time. With the previous ones his level would drop into the 200s then go back up. I haven't changed anything. I don't know if the sensor was bad or if it was just causing him a lot of stress. He's usually a pretty laid back cat but he was restless this time. I don't know if it was the placement of the device or maybe the shirt. I just want my baby boy to get better. I am just looking for advice from people who have used this system and what they do to keep it on. The vet has tried 3 different places on him (back of the neck, and on each side in his mid section). Thank you.
