My cat Disco was diagnosed with diabetes 4 (maybe 5?) days ago.

I've had him for 10 years and he's my best friend. I'm really scared of letting him down by not being able to afford to help him. I don't have a glucose kit. I am a former vet assistant so I have experience with injections, and I'm not afraid of the testing process. I just don't know what to do after the box of needles I have is gone. I live in a small town in New Brunswick, Canada. We don't have a lot of resources for owners struggling financially with pets in need.

I joined this forum because even with my former vet knowledge and background, I am so very out of my depth with this. Working on filling out my signature and summary still so I apologize if there's not enough information and will happily answer any questions. Any thing to have some support in what feels like the hardest thing I've had to go through this year in a growing mountain of hard things.

Have you read your previous post about tap on the blue link I gave you members there gave you a few suggestion

@Chris & China (GA) is one of our resources for Diabetic Cats in Need (DCIN). The organization may be able to help you with supplies. I have no idea what the cost is for Caninsulin. However, it is not a great insulin for diabetic cats -- if you notice from the name, it was developed for dogs. It doesn't provide the duration that needed for cats given their faster metabolism. I'd also suggest checking in the Supply Closet forum here. Members will often donate or sell supplies at a low cost
