Hi-
I posted last week when I first joined, and things have gone down hill for Foppa in the past 2 days. I took her to an emergency vet last night and since, she has undergone a lot of testing and things.
The short list:
- liver and kidney function not good, and its not due to the diabetes: it is believed to be either an inflammatory disease of the liver or a lymphoma. (We can't afford to do the biopsy to determine for sure).
- small intestine is thickened.
- probable kidney infection (I'm not totally sure why they can't determine this)
- she will not eat: she's gotten fluids in the past 24 hours, but will not eat. What she does eat she throws up. I've tried syringe feeding her several times as well.
We are unfortunately leaving town tomorrow and cannot change that- but she will go stay with my parents and be cared for there with attempt to feed, subcutaneous fluids and meds.
We are conflicted however what to do- the last thing we want is for her to suffer. And we would hate for something to go dramatically downhill and not be here with her.
Thanks for listening,
Mandy and Foppa
