Has anyone from the US purchased Lantus from Canada?
I need to order a new vial and it is soooo expensive here.
If so, what is the process?

Lots of us have!!!

Here's the information on where we're all buying from

Marks is great!! If it weren't for them, I would have had to take China off Lantus 3 years ago due to the insane prices.

You're better off getting the pens too.....each pen holds 300 units (where the vial holds 1000) so unless your cat is on a high dose, you'll end up throwing half a vial away when it loses efficacy...the pens will last up until the expiration date on the box...usually at least 2 years.

You just use a regular insulin syringe and pull the insulin out of the pen, just like you would a vial.

Hopefully they can ship to FL.

They can! I live in FL and get mine from there, but it's best to order when the weather is cooler and stock up on enough to last the summer. The first time, I scanned and sent the prescription from the vet. The second time (when I found a new vet), I gave them the vet the pharmacy's info and they faxed the prescription. The pharmacy then called me to arrange payment/shipment.

Hopefully they can ship to FL. It's near 100 degrees here right now lol

Yes they can, but they may strongly suggest paying an extra $10 (I think) for a special cooler to help keep it cool

They ship in a special envelope that helps keep it cool along with a medical grade ice pack, but if it's really hot when shipping, they will want to add the cooler too

They are all about getting it there safely, quickly and in good shape!

Okay great! I don't mind paying the extra money for it.. better than the $300 I paid for her first vial!
How long does it usually take to receive when you order? It says on the site they can't give an estimated time because of customs.

I work at a medical spa so when we get botox shipped to us it comes on dry ice. its sooo cold so the cooler thing must be like that?

Hot FL! lol. I am going to call the vet tomorrow and see if they can scan the information over to them. Walgreen's has the original script!

Usually between 5-7 days.....once they get the script, it'll usually go out that day or the next. My last shipment I called on Monday afternoon to refill and it was in my mailbox on Friday!!

They will send you a tracking number too so you can watch it go through the postal system

I am just worried that it says "All items requiring refrigeration are shipped with a tracking number, inside thermal insulation using only express delivery. Refrigeration items may not arrive cold/ at room temperature." Won't that make the Lantus bad if it isn't cold anymore?

No....Marks has been shipping insulin for many years and know what they're doing......As long as the actual insulin doesn't get "hot" (over 80 degrees), it'll be fine.

Most of the time it arrives feeling cool or room temp, but it's not as fragile as it seems. When I first found Marks, it was late June in Missouri and I was within weeks of having to take China off Lantus because I couldn't afford it again. Due to the timing, my order ended up getting stuck at the post offices due to Canada Day and 4th of July holidays during shipment and took 10 days (at 90+ degrees the whole time)

I was still able to use every drop of all 5 pens

Okay that is great to hear!! I am going to call them tomorrow :)
Is drawing from the pen just like drawing from the vial?
That seems like a better deal!

You just pull the cap off and insert the syringe into the rubber stopper inside...just like a vial!!...and as Adrian has said, you don't inject air into the pens...there's already a vacuum
