Hi,
I have a 15 yr old Maine Coon who was diagnosed with diabetes about 5 years ago. He did have a brief period of remission but is now back to needing insulin. He has always been on Lantus but within the last month, he started having issues. We had to find a new vet b/c the one we were seeing showed little effort in trying to treat him. Old vet had us giving 5 units of Lantus twice a day. New vet dropped to 3 units twice a day and is considering changing to ProZinc.
Within the last month, we have had a hard time regulating his levels. Either he is too high or too low. I can't seem to find a pattern as to what is causing the highs and lows. Doing the same thing every day. Not sure what to do.
