Thanks. Those black numbers are from bouncing as he is not used to the lower numbers again yet and his body thinks he needs to panic. I sent you information about bouncing in Post 5 above. Don’t be surprised if he bounces from the 67 today. All perfectly normal for a newly diagnosed FD kitty. You are doing a good job looking looking after Bear.
Question that came up. Sometimes (oftentimes) when I am drawing his insulin I notice little air bubbles. I try to redraw to get them to go away but sometimes I can't seem to get them to leave! Should I worry about this? Additionally, should I be pushing the extra air out of the needle first before I stick it in the insulin? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, no one has really shown me how to do it properly so want to make sure I'm not missing a step!

Ideally there should be no air bubbles. Draw the dose (little bit more than you need), flick the syringe several times to force the bubbles up top, and push the air/excess dose out onto a paper towel/toilet paper. Never push the insulin BACK into the vial; it can contaminate the vial with latex fragments, and lead to problems. If you have too much after pushing the air out, shoot the excess onto a paper towel.
