New diabetic cat

My rescue cat was diagnosed with diabetes. I am using a lantus pen but drawing up the insulin from the pen with a syringe. Someone told me I can use the pens for long than 28 days if they are kept in the fridge while using them. Is this correct? Is anyone else doing this?

The 28 day thing is for Human diabetics who can use up a pen quickly. FDMB has found that the pens are good to the last drop if kept in the fridge and handled carefully.

Humans keep pens out of the fridge, so only good for 28 days. I had a pen refill last 90 days.
