Great photos!!!
Right now, everything you're doing to manage Lou's diabetes is new. At first, the quantity of information, skills, etc. is completely overwhelming. Even for MDs and even some vets who have been members of this group, it's overwhelming. The other reason that you're feeling swamped is that you care. So, for what it's worth, you're where you are expected to be in this process and we all understand because we've been there too. If you read the link,
Gabby's Legacy, in my signature, there's a bit more about the bond we form. The text is in post #7. (I wrote the post when Gabby crossed the Bridge.)
The other thing that helps with testing, as someone above noted are treats. There are low carb treats -- either a freeze dried protein (e.g., chicken) or jerky style treats -- that most cats really like. Making the association between testing and something positive really helps. BTW, treats don't have to be food. If brushing works, do that!
If money is tight, keep an eye on the
Supply Closet forum. Members will post there if they have materials they are donating or selling. Sometimes there is similar information in our Facebook group.
One housekeeping favor.... We try to limit a thread to around 50 posts. If it gets much longer, there's a lot to read. That's especially the case if you need information in a hurry. You can copy and paste the URL from this thread into your new thread for continuity.
