New day- Copper AMPS

Copper's amps is 299. He ate 2hrs prior only a small amount so don't think food has infulence today. I was thinking to still give 1.5u. What do you all think? WIll dose in the next 10min if you are around. I can observe him some of the day and probably be around for +6.

The 1.5u should be just fine, you shot that into a 289 on the 21st and had a pretty good day. I would still get a mid cycle test if you can.

Thanks guys! I'm starting to feel so much more confident on my dosing. I guess after having the worse that could happen, happen, i'm not as tense anymore about it all. Thanks for all the advice everyone. I really feel like i have a good support system

Hi Lori.....I am not sure I have ever introduced myself. I am Kim and my cat, Kitty and I have been managing FD for about a year now. It is a complex disease, but very manageable. I have kept up with Copper some, but I hope to have more time to begin following all of the kitties here more. It does look like you are getting very good at dosing!

I am curious...I see you are from NC...so am I! What area are you from?

He didn't move much today. I think time to go up on insulin? Thinking 1.6u or 1.8? Maybe 1.6u for tonight and then depending on the amps, go to 1.8. Or is this too soon?

What are your thoughts?

why not stick to raising quarter unit doses at a time. so....1.75 tonight?
 
No, I don't think it is too soon, he's been pretty flat the last two days. I think you would be ok with 1.75u or 1.8u whichever is easier to measure. You have plenty of room to drop off of those numbers and that is still alot less than you were shooting.
 
Yea, it's easier to measure the 1.8u. I will wait and see what his pmps is and but it will probably be in the upper 200's or low 300's. I will be doing his pmps @10pmEST.

Pmps @ 300. Actually what he was about at amps. So lower than last night, but no blue nadir today at all. So 1.6u tonight and probably 1.75u tomorrow.

Hi Lori...yes, I know Blowing Rock and have actually visited there before. It is a beautiful area. I am on the other side of the state....East of Raleigh. I was hoping you would be near by!

Chrsitmas Eve amps- 254. That was on 1.6u last night. SO i think i will stay with the 1.6u and see what happens today. If doesn't move will go up to the 1.8u.

Looks like he had a bad cycle today and tonight. I will probably go up to the 1.8u tomorrow. I hate having to keep increasing the insulin. Why did the lower amount of insulin work so well right at first and now it doesn't? Does he get more insulin resistant to the dose after awhile? Do i have to go a lot higher to break through to healing? His neuro is so bad that i cry everytime i see him try to walk around anywhere. We have wood floors and that makes it even more slippery to him. Thought about putting rubber socks on his feet so he can grip better. SOmething to help him. Poor sweet guy. I just can't seem to find the right dosage to help his sugar stay down. Why does it take so long?

Babble and vent away, this is the safest place to do it, we understand and share your frustration.

Depending on his AMPS of course, I think 1.8u would be a good dose to go to.
