So a new possible concern although I don't really think so - my husband just casually said something about "you don't think the insulin sitting out for a couple of hours the other day was an issue do you?" Evidently I gave him his shot, went back to bed and forgot to put the jar back in the fridge, my husband found it less than 2 hours later and put it away, he said the box still felt cool to the touch - so I don't know if this is an issue or not. Thoughts?

I agree, Ellen. People have left it out much longer with no ill effects.

I left insulin out overnight & called the manufacturer. The big issue is light. I now keep the insulin in the orig box all the time. Left out overnight with house at 65 and In the box, insulin ok. I left out 2 hours under a lamp one time and they said the insulin was suspect. They said it starts to break down after 2 hours in light. Keep in mind I had it right under a turned on lamp.

I think it can also partially break down so you're never sure the active dose.

For any questions like this I call the manufacturer.

that's good info Barb. I've always kept it in the box as I knew there was a light sensitivity. I goes right back in the box before I even give the shot and right into the fridge - unless I'm sleep walking (which happens!)
