New Calypso update-morning in the ER

So I spoke to soon about how well Calypso is doing!
Quick recap-she is a civvy with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. On Thursday the cancer vet said she is in clinical remission, all values were normal with the exception of really high neutrophils and she has a raging UTI that explained that. So she was sent home on baytril

Last night I noticed she was straining really bad to have a BM. She urinated just fine. After a while she did pass a very small hard poop, so I thought all was okay-that has happened about once a year for many years now and then things go back to normal.
When I got up this morning she was clearly uncomfortable, still straining with maybe a bit of diarrhea coming out. She was also drooling and breathing pretty hard. So, off to the ER vet we went. (I need to talk to her about getting better timing than weekends and holidays!)

At the vet she had a temp of 103.3, I told them to do a CBC since she is on chemo, we also did a full chem panel just in case. The vet said she couldn't feel anything in her colon so she didn't think she was constipated. She did a rectal probe with her pinky and said there was a piece of stool that was stuck in the rectum, but of course it went back into her colon! So, she was given an enema with a bit of something to help stuff come out easier. Blood work came back okay but with really high neutrophils (46K), I'm not sure how that relates to the numbers from Thursday.

So, she got an antibiotic shot plus some fluids and we are home again with some pro-biotics to sprinkle on her food. I should hear from the cancer vet today or for sure tomorrow to see if we want to change anything. ER vet thinks she may have a touch of colitis, plus that piece that was stuck is what caused most of the discomfort.

So, right now I'm still waiting for a BM from her, but she seems a little more comfortable. She's currently sleeping peacefully after being very uncomfortable earlier today.

Aw, I hope that stool comes out and she feels better soon. Maybe, being off feed and missing Korbel, it was enough to start process going and now that she has been taken care of it will not happen again. Maybe knock on some wood first before posting good news again

My Midora had birth defects and had problem with the BM her entire life (hence the w/d). If you feel she's not going when she should, my 2 solutions would be a chicken breast or a little bit of mineral oil. When I fed Midora canned fancy feast (to go with her w/d dry), I always chose chicken flavors. Note she was not diabetic.

Good luck!
