Tanya and Ducia

Member Since 2017
Good morning L&L,

It's been a while since our last, hope everyone is doing good.

I have been experimenting with feeding Ducia slightly higher carbs LC - like 4% - 6% range, mostly Friskies (still fishing out tons of small sharp bone debris from every serving  ) and sometimes Soulistic.

The feeding schedule is identical AM and PM. The larger portion is eaten at preshot and then 2 teaspoons of the same food at +1, +2, +3 each, then rarely now :)D) 1 teaspoon snack of 0% at +7 and later on 2 or 2.5 teaspoons of 0% a +9.

The general idea was to check if Ducia does better with something other than zero carbs - many cats do I was told. It was several days on that experiment but I cannot say I am certain of the improvement but I am very tired, might not be seeing things clearly or objectively.

It seems there were more Greens lately but almost equally as much Pinks... The bouncing seem to become shorter...

The one extremely hard thing to do is to feed 4% - 5% carbs when the preshot - the AM esp - is high, which is often.

I fattened the dose this AM a little.. IDK why - lost my nerve to that high yellow AMPS, perhaps.

I'd appreciate it a lot if you guys can share your thoughts on her SS and what you would have done differently.

The clinical signs, the 5 Ps are all ok. Oddly enough - despite eating a little less than a few month ago she retains weight , peeing about her usual 3 times/24 hours so I cannot really blame it on water retention. The thyroid level is OK. Activity level lately reduced to almost none:(.

Thank you for your time! Have great day everyone!

ETA: the cycles seem to be the same: the onset at +2, the duration up to 15.5 hours, spikes up after +4, nadir often enough as late as +12, goes lower at night. Carbs sensitivity vary.

Hi Tanya! Good to see you! This is mostly to bump, I'm nothing close to an expert in SS analysis. ;)

To me the differences are subtle, it looks like she's getting a later nadir in the am cycle and sustaining better there. I don't understand the feeding slightly higher carbs to flatten out cycles thing, is it so you can give them a higher dose of insulin?

I'm sorry she's not getting around much :( Will she play with you at all with flying toys and things? Does she like catnip? I would just keep trying to motivate her to move around a bit, I think when you sit still too long, you start to rust (people and cats) ;)
