Neuropathy qquestion (vitamins? )

I remember reading somewhere on here about a certain vitamin you can use to help with the legs. Can someone enlighten me about this. Is this something I would use later on or can I use it anytime for my Annie?

I think you saw people speaking of B12 tablets.
I also gave B12 shots to my Shadoe for pancreas inflammation and other issues.
None of my cats have had neuropathy issues.
 
Yea, I think it was methyl b12 or something.

Just wondering if I can use it now on my newly diagnosed kitty or if I should wait?
Also if there are any cons
 
You want Methyl B12 (methylcobalamine). It's usually in tablets, and you can grind them up and sprinkle on their food.

I started using it for Snickers as soon as I heard about it, while I was trying to regulate her BG levels. It didn't seem to have any adverse affects on her. In about six weeks, she was jumping again!
 
FWIW - I used the human form of methyl B12 from Lifelink and it was cherry flavored, but it is such a tiny little pill that Houdini didn't even notice it in his food and the little amount of sugar didn't affect his BG's at all.
 
I used the same as Gail and had excellent results. Trouble never knew it was in his food and his BG's never were affected by it.

Xobaline is 3 mg. I think others have gotten methyl B12 at health food stores or vitamin stores. I just always got mine from LifeLink ..... sometimes they have 2 for one sales.
 
I'm confused. I'm trying to find out the dosage to use for the human one. I don't want to get the wrong one.

Kitten uses the "human version" of methyl B-12. The brand is Natural Factors and i get it at my local vitamin shop. I give Kitten one 5mg tablet a day with his food. When I first started a lot of people said that they gave 3mg, but since mine were 5mg tablets, I started giving the entire tablet instead of cutting it in half everyday - mostly out of convenience. Plus his a big cat (not sure if this would make a difference though). Because the vitamins are water soluble, any excess that the cat doesn't need will get peed out - so no harm in overdosing. It took about 6 weeks to notice a difference -- he could barely walk when we started. Now he's galloping around the house like a kitten again (staying true to his name lol).

i've been to the health stores around me, and they only carry the 1000mg pills. The health store i just came from told me to try B12 B-complex liquid. it's very similar to the B12 methyl but i can give her 1 drop a day of this to equal a 3mg pill version. He said it's very good for a cats neuropathy and have heard of great results. I haven't given it to her yet, has anyone tried this one?
 
I routinely gave Trouble the (human) 3mg tablet with every bowl of food ..that would be twice a day. It took him about 4 weeks to get his feet back under him. I truly think it is lower bg levels that "right" neuropathy BUT I do believe MB12 helps greatly. MB12 helps fluid flow through the spinal column therefore assisting blood flow to extremities.

Sorry I didnt see your post...No I've never used that type. The kind I used was a sublingual tablet that I crushed up to a fine powder. It was cherry flavored but Trouble never noticed the taste. I dont think cats have a sweet taster. ;)

yea, i think it was 1000 mcg. i would have to give her 3 pills. this one i got i just give her one drop and it eguals to 3mg
