Nefeli 2.5 years after OTJ is back?

Hi all,
Nefeli was never overweight and was always healthy. In September 2009 she was diagnosed with diabetes. After a 3 month treatment with the help of this forum, change of diet and Lantus, she was OTJ in December 2009. Since then she was always around 75.
The last month she was suddenly hyperactive and constantly hungry. I was suspicious and checked her tonight and she was 280.
Tomorrow we will start again regular measuring. If she remains in these numbers should we start again insuline?

Notes: 1. A month ago we adopted a new baby kitten who turned to have CH (cerebellar hypoplasia)
2. She recently came out to be FIP positive with titers 1/400 and is in her 4th day (out of 7) in Baytrill (18mg/day).
She weights 3850grams and is 12years-old

Vet check asap to rule out instigating factors - dental, bladder infection, other.

Start testing, so you have data for the vet.

If diabetic levels, then yes, you will need to go back on the insulin.
 
Hopefully its an an infection or something as BMJ suggests. Let us know what happens, I will watch for an update, to learn how this one pans out.

today ,we measured 3 times, all 290,25,290, which is not very comforting. We spoke to the vet we started going to recently, and who had told us she's had training on FD; she suggested we try giving her diabetic food, Hill's m/d, for a couple of days an monitor her before proceeding with insulin etc...
So I got her some m/d wet cans (9% carb so presumably fine), but she won't really eat it! she is really picky with food. I got some dry diabetic food as well (royal canin) and mixed it in, so she ate some...
*Any suggestions on the food?
*What other conditions could be causing increased BG levels and need be checked?

First, M/D is really poor quality food. Read the label -- mostly animal by-products.

Haven't you been feeding Nefeli low carb food all this time? If not, get her back on the same diet she was on when you were here. Janet & Binky's list has many of the foods and there's an additional food chart with some newer brands. Do NOT give dry food.

I agree with BJ. Nefeli needs to see the vet to rule out the need for a dental or any other source of infection or inflammation. There have been cats that have come out of remission due to dental problems.
 
Both stress and infections can raise blood sugars so that could be the issue given recent history. I'd get a CBC (blood count) done to confirm if there's an infection which would show by high levels of white blood cells especially neutrophils. I'm not sure what she's eating normally but a low carb wet food would be best for her and normal tinned food is probably better than the diabetic stuff from the vet. Nefeli has been on a low-carb diet that we used during initial treatmentall this time. Occasionally she would eat some dry from the other cat's bowl. The problem is she is still crazy for dry food, and she wont eat any wet food. BG was 377 this morning!
We became suspicious and tested again because, especially since we got the new kitten, she has been significantly more active and playfool than usual, with an erratic appetite- always hungry, waking up very early morning and shouting for food, etc, alas, without eating much.

Thanks- wouldn't a bladder/urinary tract infection manifest with other clinical symptoms? what else could we be looking for?
