Thanks, I was worried the meds wouldn't go far enough in with the short needle. The vet tec told me to push the needle all the way until you can't push anymore. Perkins used to be much larger than he is now, he is just 14 pounds and has a lot of skin and fur, but I guess as long I puncture the first layer of skin the meds will get in. I hope you get a good vet to for Fritz. I know God is in control so even if the vet isn't all that good God will work in out in the end. God bless.I used the 1/2" and the 5/16". Personal preference.
Some do better with the short needle and say less fur shots. Myself I can use either after first time or two you use them you just adjust to the length. Im sure hoping things get better for you and kitty. I have a really hard time with vets because we travel all over and see a different vet all the time. Makes it hard to get good care for Fritz. I hope you can find a good vet that will help and not cost a ton of $.
I'm new at this site but tomorrow I'm going to change from the 5/16 to 1/2 inch needle. My cat Butter has a very very thick undercoat & on at least one dose I don't think it went through the fur, and of course couldn't give another shot. He also acted like he hadn't gotten it, lethargic & didn't eat much later. I would like to change to a 29 guage needle from the 31 guage I have now. To me, these short thin needles are dinky. I'm afraid they are going to break. Everytime I've used them they come out bent. Thanks, I was worried the meds wouldn't go far enough in with the short needle. The first 5/16 I pulled out of the package was already bent, I think I might change to.I'm new at this site but tomorrow I'm going to change from the 5/16 to 1/2 inch needle.
