Needle type for insulin

I have a friend who is offering me a bunch of disposable needles that were used for human shots and I'm wondering if they would be appropriate to use on my cat, who is currently getting 3units of lantus 2x per day:

These needles are Kendall Monoject 1/2 mL 28g x 1/2" length "for use with u-100 insulin only 50 units or less".

The needles I have been using on my cat vary but they all say "for u-100 Insulin" and vary from 29-31 gauge, 1/2" length or less (15/64").

It seems to me like these new needles should be ok (though a bit thin) but I just wanted a sanity check.

28 gauge are actually "bigger" than higher numbers like 30 and 31...In needles, the higher the gauge, the smaller the "hole" they make

I'm assuming you mean syringes, not needles too (we used to be able to buy syringes and needles separately, but most are "combo's" these days).

While those would be fine for humans, we really suggest using 3/10mL (for 30 units or less) as well as using syringes that have half unit markings for our sugarcats..the ones you're describing don't have the half unit markings

I second Chris's recommendation about the 0.3ml u100 demi syringes. In addition to having the half-unit markings, it is easier to measure smaller doses using the 0.3ml syringes.

I like 30 gauge needles - still pretty thin, but a tad more resistant to bending than the 31-33 syringes.
And since I've bent them into my fingers before ...
