Needing help

I didn't think I'd ever have to ask for help, but here we are.
Our boy Fox has fell out of remission.
Just did another senior profile on him to make sure it's not renal failure as well.
My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 "incurable" cancer middle of last year, and I was bedridden for months with severe sciatica pain.
We're extremely broken right now in many ways.
Our boy has love left to give, but I don't think we can be good parents to him anymore.
I don't want to neglect him.
We would like to find a home for him, but we don't know where to go or what to do.
We live in Kansas, but are willing to travel to give him a good home.
He's an indoor cat, about 13.. I'm crying

Contact diabetic cats in need. They may be able to help you either with supplies or with finding a foster for your cat. I'll tag someone involved with them for you.

It takes courage to ask for help. Some people just give up and the cat or dog goes to the nearest shelter. We have one of those "surrendered" cats and our only regret is missing the first six years of his life. I cannot relate to your situation but I understand why and if you're feeling the slightest bit of guilt please don't. We live in Canada and the border is still a mess so I can't help but I've seen cats as old as 18 taken in to a new home, a home like ours where forever means something.
With a bit of luck and some human kindness Fox will find that home, I only wish it was us that could be his hero.

I am so sorry you and your wife are going through so much at the moment. It is very hard.
I do hope you will be able to find a home for him….he is gorgeous.

Did someone just volunteer me for this? Actually I've already looked into this, I let Cynthia read the story and that was that.
There are some really big issues here. Bill lives in Kansas but neither he or his profile says where so for now I'll assume Wichita. There are no direct flights from Kansas City but there is one from OKC to Toronto. Wichita to OKC is 158 miles, then a 6hour 34 minute flight. I've flown cats and dogs for four or more hours but some airlines refuse animals in cargo in the summer heat. If Bill drives the driving distance from Wichita to the border at Niagara Falls is 1,197 miles, a 2,394 mile round trip. I don't have a passport right now and the borders are closed so that's the best I can do for driving. Bill will also be away from his wife for at least three days if he makes that drive.
If he flies with Fox with him in passenger that would be better but it might be money he doesn't have. I'm sure customs would find a way to just pass a cat across the dotted line, otherwise anyone flying into Canada has to quarantine in a skanky airport hotel for 14 days.
So yes, anything is possible and I've already PM'd Bill about this but I made it clear this is something we'd do if every other option is exhausted. We're also getting another dog soon and already have problems with two males who both think they're the Alpha.
Bill, if you're reading this the offer still stands but the logistics and Fox's age and diabetes make this all very complicated. We are not abandoning you.
There's no way to say this without sounding nasty and that's not who I am. By now everyone knows "forever" means something here and I won't just sit here and watch Fox go to a shelter but Bill. his wife and I need some help here. There has to be a better alternative.

Being a kind soul has it's drawbacks. I'm happy no one on the block knows were 'good with animals' anymore, please stop bringing me opossums.
In the 20 years we've lived here Marco is the only one of 14 cats that came from a shelter. I just can't go in there and don't understand what people are thinking when they bring a dog or cat home. Do they really live that long? I'll be in college by then!
