NEED URGENT ANS: Sedation & Prozinc

Hi,
Brought my 16 yr old female in for ultrasound. Rec'd a call saying she wouldn't lie still for the test & they want to sedate her. She has not gotten regulated in 2.5 weeks and I have seen numbers from 59 to 389 over the last week. I had to be the one to suggest that they take the blood sugar and let me know before we do any sedation. Is sedation dangerous? Should I let them or not. She has had blood in her urine for last 4 mos (only picked up by testing) but no other symptoms of anything, other than becoming diabetic.

Why didn't they think to test the BG before considering or calling me?

What should I do? Am I overreacting? They will call at any minute. Please answer!DiabeticMom

I wouldn't sedate for an ultrasound ..... it is not a difficult procedure and if they have patience, it should not be a problem. Most vets don't treat a lot of diabetic kitties, we usually need to remind them to test BG's, sad I know. I would not sedate a 16 yr. old kitty unless I had to. Good luck!
