I am trying to help get a cat (not diabetic) from Saskatoon, Canada, to Houston TX.

I have ground transport to Minneapolis, where Patches can board a Continental Cargo plane to Houston.

The problems are:

The Continental flight is at around 6:30 am, and the animals usually have to get checked in 2 hours before the flight---> 4:30am. I need to find someone who will hold Patches overnight in his/her home and drop her off at the airport very very early in the morning.

The second problems is that we don't know exactly when this will happen. We think sometime late next week. Patches' ride from Saskatoon to Fargo, ND, is in a fifth wheeler with a family that is vacationing along the way, so they are not holding to a strict time schedule.

If you can help, please help me know. I know we have plenty of Twin Cities folks here, and I am hoping one will volunteer.

Thanks!!

At present, it looks like Patches would have to be to the Minneapolis airport at 4:30am on Sunday, 7/31/11, or Monday, 8/1/11.

I finally found Patches' story.

Patches is an elderly female calico. She was dumped by her "family" at my husbands parents house along with two other cats. They assured his parents that they would pay ALL costs for food, litter, health care, toys, damages, etc. if they would only look after them "for a week or so"... Well, it's been over six months and no money was paid for ANYTHING. We are NOT a rich family. They failed to even inquire as to how their cats were doing.

Now, more than half a year later they have picked up their other two cats (much to my protest) and left Patches for whatever fate awaits her. Claiming she is "too old" and a "burden upon them". They have advertised her as "free to good home" and shown little interest in checking in to exactly WHO is adopting their childhood best friend. I've warned them that our neighbourhood is FAMOUS for animals being taken by these ads as bait for dog fighting, they showed no care about it. She has a grim fate, as do all elderly animals if she cannot find a good home. She's had a hard life, being forced to breathe in drugs, being chased, attacked, and almost killed by other animals (including my in-laws very own cat), being ignored, starved, and neglected. She is only safe for a limited time for my husbands parents do not like her, and want her gone. I am this cats last hope. She has a home now, it's just VERY far away, and a race against time to get her there.

Praying that Patches gets a wonderful home and lives out her life in luxury as she so very much deserves.
