KT hasn't felt well in many days. Bloodwork says nothing several days ago. I've been syringe feeding him the last 3 days as he refused to eat much of anything on his own. He's had diarrhea, meds aren't cutting it. I got a different one this morning. But today he is refusing to eat at all, fighting syringe feeding and is telling us he's tired of it all. He's skin and bones, not much muscle bulk left. His temp is low, he's on heating pad....

I'm not sure I can handle this one.... :cry: :cry: Mighty prayers PLEASE...

My regular vet is on a 2 week refresher training so I saw one of the other vets. You must understand, an office visit is $10, it's no high tech place...she gave us propectalin for diarrhea and said he looked fine...which he didn't. They really don't see anyone Sunday mornings- open 1 hour, just pickup/drop off things.

Nothing showed on his bloodwork about a week ago.

I'm getting STUBBORN and MAD - KT you WILL have food in your belly! You will NOT starve yourself on me! YOU WILL NOT! All I could get is Hills a/d at 25% carbs but so be it. Only half a can all day but that's half down, half to go buddy...

HUGS and thank you again...he's my soul...I love them all to pieces but he's just 'more'....

We all know what you're going through, Lyresa. One of the things you may want to try is Fancy Feast Appetizers. I fed these to my last kitty, Shadow, who was diagnosed with cancer (mass behind the right ear). She was hungry, but because the mass was also invading her right jaw, she couldn't eat regular kibble. These are basically meat. It comes in different fish flavors, beef and chicken, chicken, and I forget what else. I know that Brookshire's sells them, and I'm not sure if there's a pet food specialty place near you, or not that may also carry them. The Brookshire's here that sells them charges $1.29 each. They would make a nice addition to what you're giving him already. The main thing is... He needs to eat, and it'll be something to try out. I know I went through countless different things with our late Jr. Mint to try and get him to eat something.

KT, I hope by now you're appetite is picking up & Lyresa, many hugs and prayers of support to you. Tons of healing vines to little KT.

Something I use for Simon who's so finicky & doesn't want to eat now with his URI is nutritiohnal yeast - he loves the smell & a little sprinkle on top of his food gets him to lick the top part at least. Plus, the B vitamins are good, too.

Lyresa, I am so sorry that KT is doing well. Glad you were able to at least get him to take 1/2 can of food. We're sending many, many healing vines to KT and will keep him and you in our Prayers.

EVENING UPDATE:
BIG HUGS back to all and THANK YOU MORE!

KT got up, pranced around for a couple of minutes, cleaned off food on his chest, peed, pooped, and gave us the full stretching routine! That was shortly after the last syringe feeding. He went back to the corner when he was through but at least he felt well enough to come out.

I still can't get him to eat on his own other than hard food...letting him eat some grain free Nature's Variety I found at the store. It's not on any charts that I find so no idea on carbs, right now that's the least of my worries. I've syringed another about 22cc's of hill's a/d. I'll be getting up all night doing the same.

His AMPS was 86, PMPS was a bounce of 253 altho I DID see a higher number at +9ish. (sorry, spreadsheet not up to date...)

Still diarrhea - I was so hoping for a bit of solid something by now. It's light colored and EXTREMELY smelly.

Marje - my vet doesn't even have either test...they can't prescribe bupe anyway, no Okla narcotic's license so no. The 'emergency' vet doesn't even have one. I'm sure the place that did KTs dental does but that's a HUGE expense just to get in the door.

NO KETONES! I check that almost daily and right now, follow him every time I see him headed to the box.

Well darn on the vet and the bupe. He still has those funny colored poos, huh? I'm glad he got up and pranced. Sending more hugs and vines...and prayers.

When I hear about extremely smelly pale poops I always wonder about epi (exocrine pancreatic Insufficiency). Are the poops large and puffy too? My bailey has it and the vet says its rare but I suspect its under diagnosed. It's not part of the standard blood panels either.

Oh Lyressa! So sorry to hear that KT is feeling so poorly. But tonight's news is good. keep eating KT. I hope he continues to eat. We are all thinking of you.

Please check into pancreatic insufficiency....the light colored and smelly poop made me think that
right away.
My friends cat was starving to death before dx.
An enzyme before meals and some B12 shots brought her kitty back!

i, too, understood that KT is "more." we love all the little ones, but . . . well, punkin was more too. it's so hard to have them not feeling well.

Quick update before bed...

Still syringe feeding to start but he's figured out I'm more stubborn so he's gotta eat it. He started licking it out of the spoon if I hold it up to his mouth and his head against my chest so he can't back away. He got 3/4 can a/d down plus a few bites of other stuff here and there.

Still no ketones!
Giving probiotics
Temp back up to 101.2
Still terribly water light poop

HUGS! I'll be up in a few hours to feed again...where's the 'sleepy' smiley?
