Hello friends,

Have not been on this board in quite some time. I need to start a new spreadsheet on my cat Elmo. He was doing ok but cant seem to get him regulated due to dental issues.

I am working with DCIN and have been helped tremendously By Venita and Jen.

Can someone please help me to get a spreadsheet started. Not so great with that kinda stuff.

Thanks so much.

Kay & Elmo

Some quick info. Elmo is 8yr old DSH black cat, diagnosed a few years ago. He is currently on 3 u BID of compounded PZI U100 insulin from Wedgewood pharmacy. He eats 3 times a day friskies canned only and freeze dired chicken treats. Home test with Bayer countour meter at am and pm preshots daily and also spots checks as needed.

Have not had the funds to test very much but thanks to DCIN I now have enough strips and supplies I need to get Elmo on track again.

Thanks friends.

Go here for instructions

File, Publish it to the web, where anyone with the link may see it
- the link will have 'pub' in it, not 'ccc'

It is tricky. If you need help, send me a pm. (button in bottom left hand side of my post. You can write a private message in case we need to speak by phone.)

Looks like Google Docs has changed yet again @-) The Share tab no longer exists so publishing the document to the web is a little different now.

yes I am confused.. that did not take long lol.. I have spreadshhet saved to my documents but I cant enter anything on the spreadsheet. I also have google and I have his old spreadsheet on there and I can type numbers onto that one but it says sheet is too big..

Ugh..

This is what I figured out:

Click on the blue Share button at the top right corner of the document. OR, click on File in the document toolbar and then choose Share.

In the box that appears, click on the Change... link next to Private.

In the next box, click on the button for Anyone with the link.

In the next box, you will be given the link to share with others. Note: This link contains the "ccc" which previously was the incorrect link to share. Use this link anyways. If someone knows how to get the previously correct link that contains "pub", please post  Google Help is completely unhelpful :-Q I can only find the old publishing instructions.

Copy and paste the link to your signature.

The publish to the web is under file on the left hand side of the ss, under the title. It has the pub in the URL.

If you use the share URL with the cc in it, it puts your ss on the templates list of everyone who views it.

We need the instructions for the spreadsheet rewritten - badly.

I can almost always access the template from google docs template list.

Ahh... I see it now. Dumb Google for the constant changes cat(2)_steam

I agree, the instruction sticky needs to be rewritten.

Sue,
I will try to get that "rewrite" done this weekend....It's on my "honey do list", I promise!

We also need to post instructions to everyone who has created a SS since Googledocs was change.....everyone with the "ccc" in the URL instead of "pub".....it's causing everyone problems, even if they don't know it yet.

That too. The outdated instruction sticky explains how to get the correct URL to share but for some reason people aren't understanding it (I guess?) and are just copying and pasting the URL from web browser address bar confused_cat

The problem it causes....
Every time you look at someone's SS, it shows up in this list on the googledocs page the next time you go there. The list just grows and grows...
Not a problem for somebody who only uses googledocs to look at FDMB spreadsheets like I do. But some people use it for other things....
Now you have this long list of every SS you've ever viewed (those with the "ccc" in the URL anyway), and you have to scroll through the list to find the stuff you really want to look at or use. It can get to the "unmanageable" point for some folks.

If you don't use the "File", "publish to the web" option..... I think that's the only part of the procedure that needs to be updated however.

I also couldn't find the templates unless I only entered "FDMB" in the search box. If I added to that, they didn't show up. That's odd.

On the Google Docs list, you can select "Owned By Me" to limit the list to view just your files.

Thanks BJ, good tip....
I don't own any though... but I'll tell people that.

How to actually get the template has changed as well. Many people are unable to get the template using the outdated instructions (go to Google Templates, search for the FDMB template, click on Use this template, etc). Many have tried but just get a Google error message. The current way of getting a template is to download one from Sam and 'mores post over on Tech.

I was able to find two templates by doing a search for "FDMB" a couple of weeks ago. I'll try the whole procedure later today again, and make notes.....

ok I found Elmos old google spreadsheet so I am in the process of earsing those numbers on there and entering new ones. Question is how do I post to here then?

I updated my profile and added my catnip business page so can I add spreadsheet somewhere on profile info?

Thanks,

Kay

When you select Publish to web, Google will provide the link to use. Paste it in your signature block in User Control Panel on this web site and it will show up on your posts.

Do it as [ url = link text goes here ] spreadsheet name here [ / url ] <- remove excess blanks and it'll become a URL link

The link should have pub in it; I think it either means published, or public.
