Need some help with Shaikha -- she's zooming!

Sigh... My guess is that she maybe dropped a little too low for comfort for her liver and it is overcompensating now. She was at 66 at +7 and now is up to 325 at +11. With the lower dose, I'm afraid to wait too long to shoot or she'll be in the stratosphere and may not be able to come down low enough. It is either that or she's finally decided that she doesn't like waiting longer than 8 or 9 hours for insulin. I think we'll be able to work out the kinks but I hate it when she zooms like this.

Suggestions? I'm thinking of shooting the 0.5U at +11.5. She was later this AM than usual for her insulin so that would get her on a more normal schedule for work on BID.

I can't help you with the dose, but I had the same zooming issues last week. For us we were no where near low numbers, but they were lower that we were use to seeing--mid 100s. We hit the mid 500s on two occassions last week after nice mid cycle numbers. One day she increased 70 points in 12 minutes. I ultimately had to reduce the dose to stop the zooming, but I have given up the blues in the process.

Good Luck!

Her liver is freaking out a little bit, to bad bacause she had a really nice day otherwise. Don't worry and don't shoot the bounce, the bounce will clear by itself.

You could go with the .5u tonight but I might pull back to .4u after the bounce clears, you don't want to have her start swinging from low to high to low. That's the roller coaster Kim & Kitty just climed off of.

Thanks, Robin. I was wondering about that myself, whether I could consider shooting 0.4U and let her get used to it again. For whatever reason her pancreas seems to be working much better. I never, ever thought I'd be able to give 0.5U let alone maybe less only twice per day. I'll hold off until +12 and test/shoot then. If she's over 400 I may give 0.5U but if she's below I may just try 0.4U and see how she does overnight. I also don't want to start following the bouncing ball, and I know from past experience she does that well! ohmygod_smile
