Good morning everyone
We are almost at the end of week one and Bella is doing pretty good. She had one really good day where her BG was 118. However since Thursday she’s been in the low 200s. She definitely is feeling much better than she was last week, almost back to her regular self. She loves the FF pate and no longer needs her higher carb food (yay!)
I do need some help/advice on figuring out a schedule and to see if I’m doing things right.
During the week for work I need to be out the house a little before 8:00 am. In the beginning when we started she wasn’t eating her food much and it was taking her close to over an hour. But over the past few days she’s been finishing her food within 30 mins - definitely progress
. During the week we’re up around 6:45 so we’ve been testing her, feeding her between 6:50-7:00, and giving her insulin by 7:45. On the weekends I do like to sleep in a little (like to 8:00/8:30) but realize that I really can’t do that because it will throw her schedule off. Today we were up at 7:00, checked sugar and she was eating by 7:10, finished by 7:35 and got her shot at 7:40.
How long do I have after she eats to give her insulin? Just in case there are times where she’s not eating within that 30 min time frame.
Also what does everyone do if they need to go out at night or want to make plans and won’t be home at the 12 hr mark?
