? Need Opinions And Advice—Is Simmy Going Into Remission???

Hello everyone!

I haven't posted in awhile, but basically I brought Simmy to the vet on 8/9 because he seemed very lethargic. I wasn't sure if it was the summer heat, but this was during the time when he was in the greens daily. The vet tested his blood sugar level and he was at 60. She used an Alpha Trak meter, I believe, and this was with 45 minutes of travel, which means that since he was stressed out (meowed the whole way), his number should have been higher. So I think that my Relion Premier meter reads points higher. The vet assured me that her meter is very accurate.

I have been reducing his dosage and now he is at .5 units. At +4 today, he was at 69. I gave him some low-to-medium carb food and he was at 115 at +7. I think that I will be reducing him to .25 tonight!

What do you guys think is going on???

I have also attached the blood panel results. Vet thinks he may need IV fluids in the near future to help with the CKD. How bad does it look???

Please advise!

Thanks, everyone!

Some cats go lower at the vet, my Neko did, so you cannot say he would be higher. However, reduction earned, time to try 0.25 units. Could you mark that 60 on your SS as being from the AT? Which dosing method are you using? Tight Regulation protocol or the Start Low Go Slow method?

His kidney numbers do look high, including the SDMA. Have you seen the website https://felinecrf.org/ Lots of good information there for you to help manage his kidney disease. There is a section on when fluids should be started. Looks like he is at stage 3 of his CKD. Are you just feeding Low phosphorus food?

Hi Wendy & Neko!

I am using Tight Regulation.

I am feeding low phosphorus food (under 200).

I'm glad to see Meesta is doing so well with his numbers! I hope the lethargy reason can be found easily! I miss seeing your posts about him. Hope everything is going well otherwise!

Such a long time.... so nice to have news! I missed little Simmy :bighug: and you also Jim...:)
He might need subQs as he seems to be CKD! That's easy to do and helps so much !!
Hope you'll be posting again so we can follow our lovely little friend, Simmy ! :cat:
