Need Opinion on How Numbers Look

Okay, Fordo has been on 1U since the 11th, how do you think his BG's look? I have noticed the days he hits high 200's and into the 300's he hasn't eaten as much, when it is down lower he has eaten more normal. I feed him in the AM before I leave for work, set his feeder for 2 meals before I get home at 3:00. At 4:00 I test, feed & shot. Then leave for my second job and set his feeder with 2 more meals before I get home at 11:00. I give him a more food before I go to bed to try and last him until I get up in the morning at 4:30. Problem is sometimes he just doesn't seem to be in the mood to eat much of it and that is when his numbers hit high and he becomes very talkative and ansy.

So with all that said.. what do you all think about his BG's?

Thanks for your opinions in advance.. :?:

I think he is looking pretty good. You get some nice blues at night. Makes me wonder if this nadir is a little later and that he is bouncing sometimes by amps. 5/14 was an especially low preshot. I'd suggest if you get one that low again, retest in 20 minutes without eating. If he was still going down and not rising, that may have complicated things for the next cycle's numbers.

It's time for a curve to see what is really happening. I think I'd get numbers before I'd change the dose ( unless you start seeing consistently low numbers). It's hard, but it would be nice to get some more night numbers too - maybe before bed along with the nadir number?

It sounds like you are really working on the small frequent meals but that he won't always cooperate.....

Thanks Sue, that is what was concerning me was the low PMPS numbers he has had and then being high in the morning. I work 2 jobs, one from 6:30am - 2:30pm and then my second job is 5:00 -10:30. But I have this Friday off so I will get lots of night time numbers and do a curve on Sunday, I will start the curve at his AMPS and till bed-time. Hopefully that will provide a good set of numbers. If he is low tonight I will stay up and get another one 30 minutes later.

His numbers seem to regulate a lot faster on the Lantus last time, I am wondering how long I should keep working with the Prozinc to try and get him regulated? Can they regulate differently between the two?

It's one of those ECID things. Some cats who aren't doing well onProZinc will change to Lantus and do much better; some continue with the same patterns. Your decision. I do think he is responding well and at a small dose. His numbers the past few cycles qualify as "regulated numbers" which is a big step.

When I look at his SS, I see a pattern on the daytime cycles where the AMPS is usually higher than the PMPS, and on the days where you have mid-cycle tests, it isn't obvious where the nadir is or may have been. I'm thinking that might mean too much insulin at 1u. It also looks like he goes generally lower at night. Is there an obvious difference in the PM to AM time frame, like when or how much he eats?

I see on the SS a note that says you switched to a Relion meter and got much higher numbers. I don't remember, but were you using a freestyle meter before that?

His numbers are pretty confusing. They aren't terribly high or anything. It's just hard to judge what a given dose is doing. Some cycles it looks like it's working okay, and other cycles, it looks like nothing is happening....

Carl I was using a TrueResult/Test meter before I switched to the ReliOn. I also have a One Touch and it read within a point different from the ReliOn Meter, where the True Result was way lower.

Sue, I am just confused with all the numbers, his eating habits or nonhabit is not helping. When he actually eats all his small meals like he did tonight he gets a lower number, tonight at + 6.5 he was 151. I am going to test him again at +7 and see if where he is at.

I guess technically he is reading the same kind of numbers most times even if they are up and down. I think it has to do with how he eats. I know if he eats like he did last night it will be back up into the upper 200's or low 300's. I am going to put a little frozen salmon dust on his food and see how well he eats tonight.

Will update spread sheet also. Also I almost hate to drop the dosage as I never see anything below 200. Hopefully I can figure out the food thing and that will help.

Well the boy just keeps me going. I did a +7 last night and he was going up 173. He ate some food before bed, not much but a little and then slept all night long until about 4:00 this morning. He had decided he was hungry but did not want what had been in his bowl all night.. so I got to hear all about him wanting more. I made him wait so I could get a AMPS. And I just knew it was going to be in the 300's by how he was acting and what little he ate... he proved me wrong it was 223. Can't wait to see what it is when I get home.

I am going to get more night numbers Friday and then I will be doing a curve on Sunday since I will be there all day with him (don't have to work Sunday... YAY!!). I going to do a long curve from AMPS to bedtime. Do you think I should do it at 2 hour or 3 hour intervals? I am leaning toward 2 hours...
