need help with new adopted kitten

Hardey was a feral kitten that we also got at about 6 months. He also had been in foster care with alot of other cats, so he did not get the attention/socialization he needed. For the first week - two weeks, he would hide under the bed in the spare room. I would go in daily and lie on the floor and gently talk to him. I'd leave treats and come back later and they would be gone. He did alot of moving around at night, but I kept him secluded in the bedroom (we had another cat that he was afraid of). Each day, I would continue to talk to him and he eventually started softly meowing back. Into the second week, he slowly would come close to the edge of the bed so I could pet him. It took awhile, but he did finally come out and was a wonderful loving kitty. He was always afraid of anyone else (other than myself and husband), but he was a sweet cat - one of the most loving I have ever had.

I would say, just give it time and be gentle. That's alot of transitioning for a kitty to take in a few days. Every cat is different. Speaking softly is what finally got Hardey to come around. Good luck. Keep us updated.
