So for the first time since diagnosis and home monitoring (about a month) my Hunny has come in with a 70 preshot. I have fed him his normal low carb dinner and I will not give him his normal shot at 6:30 pm...it is now almost 6:00. I am going to be gone for a few hours...I can't imagine he will go lower, but I am unsure as how to proceed. Do we just skip the shot? I will test again upon my return, probably around 8:30. I have updated my spreadsheet. I just thought I would put this out there as it is a first for us...fingers crossed that we are turning a corner!

Can you post which insulin you're using and also the type of meter. Also does Honey have any history of DKA or testing positive for ketones?

I suggest you let your vet know about the low PMPS and get advice before giving insulin at that low a preshot - especially as you're not going to be home to monitor (and keep checking for input from members here, too).

that looks like an "L" spreadsheet...was that a good guess?

If so......Are you available to monitor if you shoot when you return?, have plenty of testing supples, and a stocked hypo kit?

Sorry I was in a hurry because I had to leave, he is on Prozinc. And we use the Relion Micro monitor. I have plenty of testing supplies. I retested to be sure it wasn't a mistake...got 67 and 70. We increased his dose from 2.5 to 3.5 on Sunday pm shot. I would think a bounce would have happened sooner, but this us all new to me. His numbers seem to be slowly decreasing, but this low preshot number surprised me, he has been pretty consistent with high preshot numbers. I will be home in about an hour and will pretest. If he is high I feel like we have totally blown the schedule. Shots at 6:30 am and pm work well for my work schedule.

Just got home and he is 409. I guess I will give him his regular dose now. It's 2 hours late and I'll have to give him his morning shot at +11, but it won't throw us too far off schedule. Crazy numbers!
