My kitty is a tender girl and recently she has some dental problems. My dear friends tried to help me recently and searched a lot and two best "recommendations" so far was link to a Petforum (nice and complicated list but I can't get it well) and one to a Catadamy (which is a bit closer with it's "Best Food for Cats with Bad Teeth" review) ...but it's so terribly difficult to search such specified food. :(

Have had anybody such an issue? She's also allergic one type so I have to be really careful in picking right menu...

She always ate only Trainer.

Had you thought about getting your cat to the vet for a dental procedure? Many cats develop tartar and need their teeth cleaned. Likewise, some need to have teeth extracted either because of cavities, gingivitis, or stomatitis. Either way, if your cat's teeth hurt, your kitty needs to see a vet. After all, if it was you and your mouth hurt when you ate, you'd go to the dentist.

Frankly, the list from Catadamy is all dry food. First, dry food is not great for cats. If your cat is diabetic, it's really bad. Second, if your cat's teeth hurt, crunching isn't going to be easy. We advocate for low carbohydrate, canned food or a raw food diet.

Where are you located? We have a variety of food lists but if you are outside of the US, we want to give you appropriate links.

I'm located in Scotland and the closest vet is in Portree. I'm trying to take out my dear not too often cause no matter how much times I've already taken her outdoor, she's stressed as... very stressed. I'm scared that she once will catch a heart attack cause of it or something. :nailbiting:

She's been there a few times and she's not actually diagnosed but we have suspects. I'm still figuring out, how I can improve the whole process of transportation (as she surely needs to "survive" this travels, there should and would be more, I suppose), but still, I thought that I can at least improve her menu for the beginning, which seems easier for the moment.

So is it dry food that made her teeth bad?

Here is the UK Food list that Elizabeth and Bertie put together. Just click on the blue highlighted name to open the list. Hopefully, you will be able to find some of these foods in Scotland where you live. You may need to order some of these foods on the internet, if you can't find them locally. Maybe at Jans in Portree? Their website says you can browse the Vital pets catalog and give Jans a call on a Monday and they will have the food for pickup by Wednesday.

Dry food was once thought to help cats clean their teeth. But most cats don't chew the dry food, they simply swallow it whole. Here is one animal hospital article about dry food and teeth. https://skylineanimalhospital.com/cat-food-prevent-dental-issues/

Adding some raw chicken necks to your cats diet can help to clean their teeth.

Your cat will probably still need to go to the vet for a dental cleaning.

FWIW baby food 2nd stage Gerber meat only especially ham is a favorite around here....also they can give you something for the stress of taking her for the drive.
