? Need Help - Levemir single pen

In the past I have purchased a single pen of Levemir from Costco Pharmacy in Texas with no issues. Right now, Jett and I are in San Diego, CA and the Costco Pharmacy says they can only sell me a box of 3 pens. Walmart Pharmacy will only sell a box as well.

Does anyone purchase a single pen from another pharmacy chain? I called CVS and their system was down, so she couldn't tell me. I'm holding out hope that CVS can do it. I remember seeing once on the FDMB that there is a pharmacy in Canada that sells supplies. Do they sell insulin too?

Here's all the info on Buying insulin from Canada but if you need it now, about all you can do is keep calling pharmacies.

No one chain guarantee's they'll break open a box (most won't)....it's an individual store decision. I've heard some people have had better luck with Target stores if there's one around.

Also hospital pharmacies and small local pharmacies might be more willing to sell a single pen. Break out the Yellow pages!! (do they still have Yellow Pages?? ;)
 
Agree with that call. I found nothing when breaking a box, my vet knew right where to go.

Suggest calling all Wal-Mart's. Some do and some don't break a box. My town has 2 Wal-Mart's and one will break a box and one won't. It's the head pharmacists decision, is what I was told. So, that is why one town has two diff store policies.
 
Might try a local vet? They may have one or know where you can get one. Might try posting on the main health board also. Good luck.
 
My local Rite Aid sold me a single pen of Lantus. I'd call around. I hope you find someone who will sell you a single pen.
 
I got my single pen from a local compounding pharmacy - only $120! (I think $140 before my veterinary discount), but still very affordable. I have also heard some Costco Pharmacies will sell a single pen.
