Hi everyone,
i have been using the Relion meter for a couple wks now. let me give you a quick background on what has been going on first real quick
simba has been sick the past wk. we went to the vet, gave him meds and he adjusted his insulin. we were doing 1 unit 2x a day. but since he has been sick and not eating well he said to do 1.5 units and once he was back to normal go up to 2 units. so i did. i gave him 2 units this morning. i give him shots at 7am and 7p. the vet wanted me to do midday readings due to the increase. so i did. this morning he was 270...which is the lowest he has been. the day prior he was 503 and then that night he was 367. that was just on the 1 unit.
anyway here is my concern. when i checked him this morning he was 270. i then ran out of strips, so i went to walmart got new ones. i just tested him a few min ago and the meter read 'hi'. i did another strip same thing.
the highest he has been is 503 and this 'hi' thing has me worried. do i need to be concerned and take him to the emergency room? or try again in a bit? and how long do i wait and/or how often should i keep testing him?
this has never happened and wasn't sure if this was normal b/c it was new strips or if there is truly an issue here. thanks
michelle and simba
