I posted on main board yesterday. Long story short I tried Milo on Young Again Zero Carb last Saturday and this Monday. It didn't agree with him so he us not trying again.
His numbers which were fairly consistent are now all over. I have kept dosage the same.
I know last weekend people told about the 3Xs daily option.
Can one of you experts give me some advice.
Should we keep dose where we are, increase slightly or go to 3Xs daily.
OR should I do a curve tomorrow and reevaluate then.
If I do go to 3Xs daily how do I transistion to that. Currently he gets at 530AM and 530PM.
Thanks

I think you could increase to 1.8 or try 3Xs daily. Some people who try 3 times a day only have to do it for a little while.

My guess is that he is either bouncing or the insulin isn't lasting quite long enough. If you do to TID, you should be able to see an improvement if the insulin is not lasting. If you increase, you run the risk of making the bouncing worse, if that is what he is doing.

So, to give insulin three times a day, you dose every 8 hours. So you could do 530am, 130pm and 930pm. You divide the amount you are giving into 3 doses. So 3.2 total daily divided by 3 would be a little more than 1 unit 3 times a day. I think that one unit might be a good place to start, monitor carefully and see what happens.

The most important part of this is that you must be sure he is rising, not still falling, each time you shoot. You don't want to shoot at 180 at +8, for example, if he is still going down because that would double up the insulin in his body. He'd have insulin left over from the previous dose added to a new dose. This makes the process complicated because you have to test, not feed and retest in the next 20 minutes to make sure the number is rising. Based on his ss, it looks like he is usually headed up by +8 but you want to be careful.

Does that make sense?

Sue,
Thanks everything makes sense. I need to slowly adjust his shot time so we can try the 3Xs a day. I work, sub, next week so I slowly need to get to where he is on 730am/730pm schedule. I know to adjust by 15 min each shot from previous experience so it'll take a few days to get there.
Then I can do 730am/330pm/1130pm. I will be able to monitor better too. I will just not work the following week and try the 3Xs a day the week of MLK holiday.
I might up to 1.8U for now while we do the time adjustment.

Good luck with the TID dosing! It works for several people, and like Sue said, some people only need to do it for a little while before they can go back to BID and see improvement.

I gave AM shot 15 minutes later so we can slowly work our way back to about 730am.
I kept dosage still at 1.6U until I make the switch to 3Xs daily when I try 1U each time.
thanks again for the help
