can someone tell me about the carbs in Medleys White Meat Chicken Florentine with Cheese & Spinach Pates, just saw them on Publix shelf, I think they are low carbs but I need to make sure before I feed them to Corky.

Thank you it seems that the information given by Chewy.com is correct 2% carbs in this Medlys flavor I just tested and Corky’s BG is only 107 so far so good he loved it

I find Chewy to be a very reliable source of information. They don't put the carbs in the Nutritional info because the manufacturer doesn't include it there, but it is usually in one of the questions someone has asked.

I just found a great carb calculator on line, but as much as I have been learning on the food I feed Corky, I never looked at the fact that there are two types of carbs, now, I do not know which one of the carbs I should follow example, this is for the Fancy Feast Medley white meat chicken Florentine with cheese and spinach

I'd suggest call the 800 number on the can and ask Purina- they will tell you, they just don't want to make a label statement. In the meantime, see Chewy website- the product page for the food of interest, and look in the Q&A section on the page. Most cat foods have customer queries as to carb, fat, protein, etc content. I believe Chewy calls the manufacturer and answers the question in <48 hours. So- the answer on the page may be outdated.

When you entered the info into the carb calculator it calculated the Dry Matter value (this is 100-the moisture in the food)—since you wrote down essentially 5.7% I assume if you look on the label it will say moisture in the food is approximately 94%.

it then gave you two ways to evaluate carbs. 1.25% is the percent carb in the wet food. If you add up every percentage on the label (fat, protein, moisture) and subtract that from 100 it gives you the % carb.

since many foods have varying amounts of moisture, you can compare % carbs in them by comparing % dry matter carbs. To do this you divide the % carb wet food (here 1.25%) by the percent Dry Matter (here approx 5.7%) and multiply by 100: 1.25/5.7 x 100=21.9 or 22%

however I haven’t figured out what this board follows because the food chart definitely doesn’t match my %dry matter calculations. It may follow metabolized energy but for wet food those values should be pretty close to %dry matter
