Need advice

I've been researching for hours and I'm light sensitive so hoping someone can help me. Screen is starting to get to me.

I have an ex diabetic cat who is on friskies pate and royal canin glycobalance. The royal canin is to add calories because he's still hungry and add weight and it can be given when I'm not there. I also use a phosphorus binder with his friskies because he's in kidney failure. He refuses to eat the kidney canned food. And he's on felimazole for his thyroid. I was going to change his royal canin to another food but it needs to be low carb and low phosphorus. Was hoping low magnesium too but really need low carb and phosphorus. Instinct looked promising until i seen the phosphorus amounts. I really would appreciate the help as my eyes are really starting to bother me. Thank you in advance.

Just so you're aware, the Glycobalance is not low in carbohydrates. It's about 14% carb. We consider low carb to be below 10%. It would be in the range of what we consider medium carb (10 - 15% and high carb is over 15%). Those are numbers for the canned version of Glycobalance. If you're feeding the dry food version, it's astronomically high in carbs. If your cat is still hungry, you want to feed him a food that's higher in calories or simply give him more food. You might want to consider a timed feeder for when you're not home. There are feeders that have room for an ice pack so there are no worries about the food spoiling.

This is a list of most of the canned foods that are available in the US. The chart contains information on carbohydrates and phosphorus.

If his thyroid wasn't checked recently, that may also be a consideration. If the dose of the felimazole is a bit too high, it may cause an increase in appetite.

You want the metabolizable energy profile percentage of carbs to be less than 10%, and the phosphorus which Weruva lists in Minerals to be less than 250 mg per 100 cals. So you have to look at two different places in the Weruva charts.
