Sorry you didn't get any help earlier Karli!

I think you might get better results overall if you stick with the same dose both AM and PM instead of changing the dose all the time.

Generally, if he's over 150 (8.3) you can give the scheduled dose and get a test at +2 or 3 so you can intervene early if necessary.

If under 150, you can stall, DON'T feed and test again in 20-30 minutes to see if it comes up. Knowing it's rising without the influence of food is good to know! It tells you that the last shot is wearing off and it's probably going to be OK to go ahead and shoot the scheduled shot (also, remember than you are going to feed him at some point and that food is going to raise his BG too

What dose should I stick with? I am currently not really able to stall as I am on a very tight schedule. I'll link my last post which I explain a bit in the comments.

I am also now extremely confused because he went to the vet today for a potential UTI (which he apparently doesn't have) but his glucose in his urine was 1000 mg/dl. How is that even possible?

The glucose in the urine is measured differently to the blood.if he was having yellow BGs it is entirely possible to get that result. If I were you I would just concentrate on the BGs.

Janet said in the past thread at the end to stay with the0.25 units so that is what I would do.
If you feel the Preshot is too low, then give 0.1 and leave some higher carb food out for him.
Do you have a auto feeder?

Okay, that number freaked me right out. I do have an auto feeder, I just need to grab it from my other house. I leave out a big bowl of food with 2 cans super watered down in the meantime.
I think I need to start watching how much I am feeding him as he is back up to 20 lbs, which is just a bit overweight for him.

Sorry should have specified I meant the urine number freaked me out.
Going to test for +2 & then I need to get some sleep.
The BG numbers are much more accurate.
Good to get a+2. Remember if the +2 is much lower than the preshot BG, you need to test again to see it isn’t dropping to far:)
