Need advice

Pj was 395 tonight - i fed her and gave 1u with a u100 syringe but I gave a fur shot. Not sure how much insuline she got. I planned on checking her again in 2-3 hours to see if numbers had gone down...if it hasn't gone down much should I give her a smidge more insulin?

Did you use U-100 syringe in the morning?

When you measured the 1 unit dose in the U100, did you measure 2.5 in the syringe?

Usually when a fur-shot is suspected, it is better to NOT reshoot. You don't know if any insulin did make it into PJ.

Post back when you test her again later. I may not be available....but I am sure Sue or BJ or another ProZinc user will be around.

Better high for a while than low for a moment.
 
I'm with Misty. You never know how much insulin might have gotten into her body. Better for her to be high for one cycle than risk going too low. Start again in the morning. It will be okay, Paula.
 
I used the u40 this a.m. I did do 2.5u in the u100 tonight. I guessed it wouldd not be good to give more but want ed to be sure.

Good job...I just wanted to make sure which one you used in the AM. The 2.5u in the U-100 does equal 1 unit in the U-40.

PJ will be okay. :smile:
 
Okay she was 258...phew! Either the first reading was off or some of the insulin went in.

Never be sorry for any 'alerts'....they bring attention to us so we can respond to a question/scenario you have that you are not sure of. We all want our sugar-kitties to be safe. :smile:
