Need advice! switching from ProZinc to Lantus

Hello

My cat has been on ProZinc from February until now. I have consulted with the vet and we agreed to switch him to Lantus. Is there anything I should be know before I change? He gets 2 units on ProZinc atm, and my vet wants us to start with 1.25 units of Lantus.

I want to do the switch tomorrow since I will be having a few days off. I have been looking at this thread and how to use the pen (I have u-100 needles 1/2U).

Please let me know if there is anything I should be paying close attention to

When you make the switch you need to add that to your spreadsheet like such
Prozinc/ Lantus and the date you switch


On your spreadsheet up top where you have Prozinc do the same like I said above

Last thing the members would like everyone to do is put a blank line above the date you have switched and type LANTUS NOW and highlight any color you want to do it stands out

Take a look at this members spreadsheet and you will see what I mean when she did a switch

Hello and welcome - am particularly fond of those cute black and whites myself. :)

We typically switch to the same dose of Lantus as kitty was getting of Prozinc. It'll be smaller volume because Lantus is more concentrated being a U-100 insulin. However regarding dosing switch, we do take into consideration how low he is getting on Prozinc, so you could back off a little bit tof 1.75 if you wish.

Lantus is a depot style insulin, meaning the doses are cumulative, and you may or may not see much action for the first few cycles. I recommend reading the Sticky Notes, including the ones on the depot, if you haven't already. Lots in there about the insulin, how to load the syringes if you are using vials vs. pens.

We made the switch from PZI to Lantus at the start of the year. It has been very good for us. :D:D:D With PZI, I had grown accustomed to shooting air into my vial. Big difference between a vial and a pen is that nothing gets shot back into your Lantus pen. Not air, not insulin, nothing! If you overdraw insulin, it goes down the sink! It was hard to remember at 5:20 am when I was half asleep. :confused:

I don’t know why you are switching from ProZinc to Lantus when he’s started to get so much nice blue and green, but hopefully he can achieve even better and flatter curves on Lantus. I am optimistic! I look forward to seeing his progress. :bighug::bighug:

I see you put the blank line on the world tab and put Lantus and highlighted it, can you please do the same on the US tab, most members will look at the US tab.

Also up top on both tabs after you put Lantus please put the date you switched

Be sure to add it to your signature also
Please leave Prozinc and put a / after that and put Lantus 3-30. Tap on your name up top then tap on signature and add that , tap save :cat:
