Need advice..lows, then highs!

Tigger is getting nice low numbers in the morning now, at least for the last four mornings he is testing at just under 200 so I have not given him his shot. Then I test two hours later and he's already up in the 300 to 400 range! So then he gets his insulin which throws off the schedule at night of course. I don't understand what happened recently and why the lower numbers in the morning. Bouncing? Maybe three units of Vetsulin is too much? Hate to call the vet about this because I don't think she knows that much more than everybody on here! Ha ha ! Would it be OK to just reduce his dose on my own maybe down to 2 1/2 units from three and see what happens? Please check his spreadsheet and tell me what you think, what would you do? Thank you !!
 
Wow those are really nice AM numbers. Not sure if your schedule will allow this but is it possible you can stall in the AM i.e. wait 30 minutes after initial test and hopefully you will have a shootable number? It looks like the numbers are climbing pretty significantly (+2) after you pre-shot time so maybe at night you would go something like 12.5 hours in between shots? I am thinking that with Vetsulin, you can do that since it is an in/out insulin.

Merlin uses Prozinc and because he does the opposite i.e. he goes higher in the am, I have to shoot 11.5 hours and then he goes lower at night so I shoot 12.5 hours. You may be the reverse.
 
Generally, if you keep getting a PS that's too low to shoot, that means the dose is too high, but what worries me most is that you're not getting any tests after PMPS at night

Most cats go lower at night, and he could be going much lower and when you test in the morning, he's actually coming UP and what you're seeing at +2 is the bounce from an unseen low number overnight

Can you start to get some tests in on that PM cycle? Without that data, you're really only seeing half the picture. Even if you can just grab a quick "before bed" test, it would help to see what might be going on overnight
