Buddy's health history is very involved but this is the latest:

He just had bloodwork and his creatinine number is up. Does anyone have recommendations of food (he only likes pates) for a cat with early stage kidney disease?

The last time we took Buddy for blood work, in Oct 2022, his phosphorus numbers were up. We added Weruva WX to his diet and we are happy to see those numbers went down BUT now his creatinine numbers have increased.

He also had a growth that needs to be removed, that may be cancerous. We have an appt on Monday for this.

All of bloodwork numbers are on his chart, in a tab titled: LABS.

Hi I hope the growth will turn out to be nothing
Tyler was blocked once ,the mucus plug so I started him on
Maybe try these, you can buy individual cans to try out at PetSmart and Petco to see if Buddy likes them
  1. The Purina Pro Plan Urinary Tract Health is low carb and low phosphorus
I feed Tyler the Beef and Chicken Entree pate
    Carbs are around 4.80
    Phosphorus is 1.44 dry matter

They also have Chicken Entree in Gravy which isn't pate it like tiny pieces of chicken like the size of a chicklet piece of gum lol remember them, they are like tiny tiny chunks
    Carbs are 4.5
    Phosphorus 0.78 dry matter

So he doesn't get bored I give him some Tiki Cat Succulent Chicken in Chicken Consume , they are shreds of chicken
    Carbs 0.338
    Phosphorus 0.93

I put about a teaspoon full on top of the Pro Plan Beef and Chicken , I cut the chicken shreds up because Tyler likes it that way lol pain in my butt

The pro plan chicken looks like this small chunks

Thanks @Bron and Sheba (GA). We give him they weruva wx for snack and he eats the small portion.

thanks @Diane Tyler's Mom. I have the tiki cat here. I wish he loved it. It’s so simple and good for him. I will try again. He’s very finicky about any food that isn’t a pate.

hoping the growth is nothing but it does look great, so we’ll see what the surgeon says tomorrow.

It's good that it came down. I'd keep an eye on the trend. I don't know how much variability there may be in the value. My cat's SDMA was as high as 15 and then dropped to 9 - 10.

There can be a lot of variability in SDMA. Current kitty was SDMA 14 in a blood work the rescue did just before we got her 6 years ago. Next b/w test it was down to 4. Last three years it's ranged from 5, up to 8/9 for a while, up to 12, then back down to 8.

Any chance Buddy was dehydrated when the blood work was done? That can make the kidney numbers higher. Has Buddy had a urinalysis recently? I don't see any on the labs page, or at least not the urine specific gravity. The USG is also a good piece of evidence on kidney function - preferably pee taken first thing in the morning. You can take a sample at home and run it into the vet if they have the tools there to test it.

I ended up with Neko on home made raw made with a low P premix.
