On another forum where people know I had a diabetic cat, and refer people here of course... I got an email from a member:
Maverick never had dry skin and if anything I see posts on oil and dandruff in an unregulated cat. What is the general consensus - is this a diabetes flag of some kind or like the person mentioned another unrelated issue?
I speak very highly of this wonderful forum. It was a blessing for Maverick and I. I will reply with info on FMDB and home testing inexpensively with a human meter, etc. Just curious about the skin.
Thanks!
and told me about his diabetic cat (8 y/o) who now has very dry, flaky skin (and dry fur) after being on insulin for a few months. He's not doing home testing on BG but says the kitty's BG is under control now. (I told him about you and how great you were at home testing to try to inspire him to do it.)
Is the dry skin thing common for diabetic cats? I asked if T4 had been checked but he didn't know.
