is there anything I can do for nauseau? Molly has thrown up last night and this morning and she keeps licking her lips.Is there anything that helps nauseau?

If it is caused by acid in the stomach, 1/4 of a Pepcid AC (nothing else in it) may help.
You could be looking at a pancreatitis attack, too. In that case, you'd likely need prescription level meds.

Thanks BJM. I have a call into the vet too. It seems to be food related, she eats and then pukes, last night and this morning. She's never done great eating wet food so this transition to all wet is tough. I put down some dry after today's puke so she'd at least have something in her.

I do worry about pancreatitis too since she has a history of it and I don't know how the insulin affects it. The vet says having had pancreatitis can make it harder to treat the diabetes.

Ended up at the vet and she gave her an anti nauseau shot and subcu fluids. Hopefully that should help. Same thing they gave her when she had the pancreatitis flare a couple years ago. Hopefully the rest of the weekend will be better!

Hi Courtney.

I'm very sorry to hear that Molly's struggling with the wet food transition and feeling nauseated.

Here are the IDEXX treatment guidelines for pancreatitis. They're very helpful when trying to identify symptoms and also give a very good overview of the treatments and medications that can help cats who suffer from pancreatitis.

The following things helped Saoirse, so maybe there might be bits and pieces that might help Molly, too:

Cerenia - for nausea (especially if vomiting present)
Ondansetron (generic version) - for nausea
Cyproheptadine - for appetite
Course of Vitamin B12 Injections - B12 deficiency is common with pancreatitis, and a course of B12 can really give a cat a boost and may also help with appetite problems.
Buprenorphine - for pain (occasional doses)
Catnip Toy - it seemed to soothe her after eating
Famotidine - for stomach acid (occasional doses)
Easily digestible food - when symptoms were at their worst. (I gave Saoirse home poached chicken, the watery broth from the poaching plus some extra water to help her keep hydrated)
Feeding - tiny meals, very frequently.
Fluids - extra water with food (see above).

Saoirse had bad diarrhoea as well and our vet prescribed Pro-Kolin (kaolin paste with probiotic) and Stomorgyl antibiotic. (Flagyl is also used to treat diarrhoea but my vet says it tastes absolutely foul and that the Stomorgyl, while including the same active inredient as Flagyl, is less unpleasant to take.)

I hope the above gives you some ideas about how you might help Molly if she is having a pancreatitis flare.

Thanks so much for all of this info. This is really helpful. vet gave her Cerenia today and that does seem to help a lot. She hasn't eaten much this afternoon but a few nibbles are better than nothing, and she's not licking her lips and hanging her head so I think she's feeling some better which is great!

I will have to check into the b12 injections. Sounds like Molly might benefit from that. Do you give them or the vet?

The vet or tech can instruct you on how to give the B12 injections if they are intramuscular.

Saoirse got her B12 injections from the vet, but I think some people here administer B12 injections at home. I'd imagine that you have to get the B12 (cyanocobalamin) from the vets.

I'm very glad that Molly has got some relief with the Cerenia and that she's trying to eat a little.
