Nature's Variety carb counts for dry

Milo has been eating only canned but since he got pancreatitis I can't get him to eat enough so I tried adding 1/8th cup to 1/4th cup of Evo dry and after 2 weeks it still hasn't affected his blood sugar. So I go to buy more but forgot about the recall. I know the other low kinds are Nature's Variety and Wellness Core but there were so many Nature's Variety I went with Wellness. Once I got home I saw it was 11% carbs so I don't even want to try it.

So my question is the carb counts on the specific kinds of Nature's Variety. I see they have the basic dry food but also the Raw Boost that includes freeze dried. And with the basic dry food they also have limited ingredient ones that don't contain fish. Do all the basic dry flavors have similar carbs? I've tried searching but I can't find specific kinds. I would like to avoid fish since it can cause pancreatitis flare ups but I just need a backup dry food until Evo is back on the shelf.

I might try the Young Again but I will run out of Evo before it gets here.

And I know dry food is the devil but even with meds he will not eat enough canned and I have tried everything. The stress of it is killing me. He happily eats the dry food even when he is nauseous and it's not affecting his blood sugar so I will continue but with a limited amount.

How about some of the canned kitten foods? They are usually higher in calories so could help him maintain or gain weight.

How about adding some pure muscle meat, up to 15% by weight, to his food? Either raw or cooked turkey or chicken might be tempting.

Crumbling the freeze dried foods on top of the other foods has tempted my kitty to eat more.

Several small meals a day seem to be more effective to get my cat to eat more during the day.

Yes, use dry food if you need to get your cat to eat. It's better to increase the insulin dose to compensate for the higher carb food than to have a cat that is not eating enough.

Binky's dry food list has not been updated since 2008 so no data there for the Nature's Variety.

Young Again Pet Foods makes 3 varieties of dry cat food that are low or zero carb:

Zero Carb
50/22 Cat and Kitten Formula (less than 5% carbs)
Mature Formula (less than 4% carbs)

You can find them at www.youngagainpetfood.com

They have a calculator that tells you how much you should feed. The food seems expensive but is very concentrated and a small bag goes a long way.

All three of my cats will eat it, even though I'm trying to get them all on wet pates.

I did find a post where someone linked the regular Nature's Variety chicken and said it was 5.2% carbs. I needed more NOW so I got that. He likes it thus far. I will check his number frequently for the next week. He isn't on insulin anymore and I would like to keep it that way.

I checked out the Young Again but I worry because it's so much more expensive and it can only be ordered online. I am moving across country in two weeks, it seems like a hassle. If they don't like it would they take it back? Ugh mailing it back sounds exhausting. The amount of cat food I have wasted this year alone is depressing.
