Before you start adding things to the diet for constipation it's important to make sure there's no obstruction. I would strongly recommend you get your little one checked over by the vet before the weekend in case she might need an enema or similar.

Hi,
If you have ruled out a obstruction and kitty is willing you can give a baby suppository. I give Dre a suppository a few times a week.
I transfer it into a 1ml syringe before inserting and he is really a cooperative boy so he doesn't fuss much-he usually has a poo in less than 30 minutes.
I know for some it is not a option but for us it was better than giving him so many pills that were not working-
good luck!

Wow that's amazing he lets you do that def a very good boy:) What type of baby suppositry do you use out of interest?

I use miralax if my cat gets a little constipated with food changes. But I learnt recently from holistic vet that poops that are shaped like balls don't necessarily mean constipation and that actually that's normal which is what my cat is now having. But as she's had constipation in past I was on the cautious side with food changes. He said as long as she goes every few days and is not straining then it's fine. She actually goes daily now and no straining without miralax but when she was constipated in past I found it very helpful.

He is a really good boy.... I use the baby glycerin suppositories either by Fleet or I think pedialite makes them. Now that we are more used to it I just bought a bottle of the veg glycerin and use a 1ml syringe.

i add a teaspoon of pumpkin at each feeding but that's not for a major blockup. Suppositories may be the way to go.

If you aren't already doing it, sub q's a few times a week not only will prevent the constipation, but make your ckd kitty much more comfortable, and slow the progression of the kidney disease.
