I know every cat is different. I see some of you guys have a cat that has a very late one - like +7. I'm thinking Maverick's seems to be around +5-+6 - I don't have enough data yet.

I'm curious though if the Nadir between the 12 hours daytime and 12 hours night time is usually the same for everyone? Maverick tends to eat more at night (since we realized his diabetes was back and unregulated). I'm not awake to see when he eats it though. He is a wet food grazer, rarely eating more than .5-1 oz in a feeding. He also eats most of it sometime between +3 and +10 at night. I know every cat will be different in their meals too.

My Oliver has a late nadir most times, but his is close to +10 some days. For the most part, his is late in the cycle.
For that reason, if he's very low, I wait till he's rising - often I try to test at +10 and then compare to his ps number.
I can shoot lower for him because I know he'll rise for at least the next 4hrs.

You will better see the patterns as you gather more data.

For food, you could try dividing food in an auto feeder, and you will see exactly when the food is eaten by knowing when the feeder turns to the next section. I know that my Shadoe is likely snoozing around her 2pm section because it's usually barely touched when I get home from work.

You could take a look at lots of the other cats' ss and see what their patterns are like; it may be helpful to you

Nadir's don't stay in one spot; you will see them change over time.

I have been looking at the spreadsheets. I'm finding it very helpful.

Do you see the daytime and nightime nadirs follow the same trend +10 or is it different between night time and daytime.

If Maverick's daytime Nadir is say +5.5 (knowing it will change and to do the curve often), will the night time one normally be +5.5 also? (sleep is a luxery lately)

I like the idea of the automatic feeder. Did your cat wig out with this? It took Maverick weeks to drink from the CatIt fountain.

UGH who knows what their overnite nadirs are and there is no way I am staying up to track them! I get a before bed test for each and then see if I can catch a +10 at 4am or else I just wait till their 6am ps. I think for the most part, Ollie has a late nadir, but you can look at his ss and see what he's like. I do test like an addict, so there is a fair amount of data to see there.

The feeder was interesting at the beginning .. Shadoe FREAKED because it does make a bit of a noise when it turns. She did try to hit it and there was a time when she was eating and it turned on her LOL.... she had not yet learned that the sound starts before the turn, so I guess she knows to get out of the way now.
I started by putting her food just outside the open section and let her get used to eating by it. Then I put the food into the sections. She had to eat from it because she would get pretty hungry if she did not.
Now, she can be sound asleep in another room and the feeder makes the noise to turn and if she is hungry she runs to the feeder for the fresh foods.
I was able to tell how she ate during the day by what was left in each section. If I came home to most not touched or just a bit from each, I know she ate little or is feeling not well. I love the feeder; it tells me so much when I am away at work.
It's a good tool.
