Hello Dear Friends,
It's taken over a month to post this, but I wanted to share the sad news with all of you. We lost Crash's battle with cancer on February 5th. Oh, how I miss my boy! It's hard not to see him in every corner of the house, to think I hear him when the floor squeaks, to long for his purry hug after work. But he gave us a good long life, with lots of love, and a million memories. In fact daddy-bean says he's probably the most documented cat on the planet - but I know there are many more well documented kitties on this board.
Big hugs to all of you and your kitties, and tons of thanks for making Lantus-Land so friendly and comforting in the wee hours of the morning. You gave us almost three more years with Crash, all of which we owe to all our friends on this board.
A song I wrote for Crash follows these pictures. Rest easy little one. We love and miss you.
God Gave Me a Kitten
(A song for Crash in his final days)
God gave me a kitten - Just a year from my vow
To be a wife to my husband - And he’s seventeen now
He’s given us joy - And a few sleepless nights
Survived diabetes - CRF and dog fights
But this one final battle - Will be the last of his years
For cancer can’t be killed - Despite all my tears
And the teardrops keep falling - As I pet and he purrs
Oh, how precious the memories - With our ball of sweet fur
Though in pain, he kept purring - And the smile in his eyes
Kept telling me, ‘Not yet, I’m not ready to die’
But this one final battle - Will be the last of his years
For cancer can’t be killed - Despite all my tears
And today I see death - As it calls my sweet cat
As his painful days lengthen - I know I must act
As a mommy, I’ll do things - I never knew I could do
But for you boy, I do them - For I’ll always love you
And this one final battle - Will be the last of his years
For cancer can’t be killed - Despite all my tears
But your days have now ended - And your pain is no more
I’m glad that you picked me - That day long ago
There’s a hole in my heart - That only Catty could fill
My sweet little boy, Crash - I long for you still
Now this one final battle - Was the last of his years
For cancer can’t be killed - Despite all my tears
Oh, how much of a fighter - this warrior, my friend
Goodbye, I will miss you - but thank you again
