Lily was diagnosed 12/5 with diabetes. Today she crossed the rainbow bridge. I'm emotionally drained. Broken hearted and grateful for this forum.

I'm so sorry to hear of Lily's passing. No matter how long we have them, it's never long enough.

Fly free sweet Lily and land softly. Send your mama a sign that you're happy, healthy, and waiting for the day when you will be together again forever. :rb_icon:

Oh Denise I'm so so sorry for you loss.
I was reading you previous post about Lily
sucked on your neck, made bread and purred...multiple times. I don't know what that means really, but I'm going to believe that she was telling me she loves me too and everything will be ok. She will be back with my dad and healthy.
I think she was telling you it was ok to let her go and everything would be alright.
I'm sure she knew how much you loved her and what a great mama you were
I'm sure all the kitties welcomed her at the bridge and they are all chasing butterflies and running around like kittens again.
Fly high sweet Lily you will be missed but never forgotten :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Please take care of yourself :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh Denise, I am so sad to read about Lily passing away. I am sorry. I can tell from your other email that you fought really hard for her. You have my deep sympathy.

Big hugs to you Denise, it must be so incredibly devastating, but I wanna share something with you that may bring just a small sense of comfort. :bighug:
I have an article in front of me from the director of Well Being Studies of Felines (Best Friend Animal Society) and he explains his thoughts on the bread kneeding and suckling as this..... " adult cats may kneed (and suckle) with their front paws on bedding, a piece of clothing (cause it smells like their favorite person) or on the actual person. This is a remnant of kitten behavior, they did this to their mother as a tiny kitten. Nursing is so pleasant and soothing to the kitten, some continue this into adulthood when they are happy and comforted. "
Little Lily did this, she was most definitely showing you that she loved you (just as she did her dad) and your efforts were truly appreciated by her. You gave her a gift of a loving new home, maybe her gift to you was this.
Chase those butterflies Lily :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you so much for this. I am of course driving myself crazy and running the past month through my head beating myself feeling like I failed her. She was a great kitty. Great with taking medicine, tolerant of the ear pricks for blood sugar and shots and even the syringe feedings - she hated but was never mean or wild. The way she looked at me always was as if i was the most beautiful thing she has ever seen. She used to look at my dad that way. Her sucking on my neck and making bread and purring were also way I measured her happiness/contentment. On days she didn't do it, i would be heart broken. When she did in the car on the way to the vet and in the vets office and before they gave her the shot. I held her while she passed. I heard her purrs and heart stop. She was born in our house - i was there when she took her first breath and cried her first cry and i was there when she took her last breath and cried her last cry.
