My heart is breaking I need help for my MR.COCO

PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME
I’m disabled (due to accident when I was 16 years old)
and I live with my mom all I received is SSI
My cat MR.COCO was losing a lot of weight he is about 9-10 years old so mom got enough money to take him to a vet the diagnose him with Diabetes
I love him so much and I cannot afford the medicine to give him so he will not die
My mom and stepdad (who have recuse a total of 5 cats and 3 dogs) my stepdad passed away so now it’s just me and mom she has to work2 jobs to make ends meet she work very long hours and she is so heartbroken too, because she told me that even if we get the money that she does not think she has the proper time to take care of him
She spoiled all the babies we now have only 4 cats now because princess pass away last year at the age of 17
I was wondering if you could help me find a good loving family that can take MR.COCO
I love him enough to let him go to a good home
By the way I live in Indiana
Please please help me so my coco can live

So sorry to hear about Mr. Coco. You could try a diet change right away. If you're feeding high carb dry food, which most dry food is, simply feeding a low carb wet food like Fancy Feast or Friskies pate style food will lower his glucose significantly. It's a simple low cost start to treating him.
 
I'm sorry to hear all the difficulties you're going through right now. I second Dusty's suggestion on trying a diet change in the meantime. Many newly diagnosed diabetics can achieve "remission" (I.e. don't need insulin) with just a diet change (and maybe some insulin for a short period). You can also check with Diabetic Cats in Need for assistance in re-homing and/or financial direction.

I really hope something works our for your kitty. It sounds like a lot of unlucky things in your life as well, so I hope things get better from here. Your heart is obviously in the right place
 
Friskies pates are low carb and cheapest. You can see if its working by home testing his ears. Go to walmart and get a relion meter and a pack of strips and lancets. We can advise how to test.

You can also get insulin that comes in a pen and lasts six months for $25.

Update:
My mom went to the store and bought some frisky pate for mr.coco
But she said that we have to weight for her to get paid to get mr.coco med
Mr.coco is doing good right now he acting normal and it seems like he had slow down on drinking water ,now that we started him on nothing but wet food ( we did not have any trouble feeding mr.coco the wet food because mom would always give our cats a little can food each day)
also mr coco has never acted sick at all if he hadn't started losing weight we would of never known he was sick
How many times should I feed him a day ?
also his their any kind of supplement we should be giving him?
and has any one tried GlucoEnsure


Oh by the way coco weights 12lbs and I can remember what the name is for is sugar count is but I asked my mom she told me when we took him to the vet they said his sugar was in 450
And I also want everyone to know part of my disable's is I have short term memory problems

That sounds great about the food change and the already noticeable difference in his water consumption. You can also add water to the wet food and make it into a mush. That helps keep them extra hydrated and helps flush their systems out, which is especially beneficial for diabetics. They also seem to better on smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day as this helps support the pancreas.

There's a formula based on weight for how much to feed that I can't remember off the top of my head (on my phone so it's hard to look up), but someone else will probably be along with that information. In the meantime, newly diagnosed diabetics are literally starving because their body isn't able to process nutrients properly so you can feed him a little bit extra, some report up to 50% more.

Do you think you and/or your mom might be willing to try home-testing? We can teach you guys how and it's a much cheaper way of figuring out this diabetes dance and whether or not Mr. Coco needs insulin (and how much) without having to take him to the vet every week.
