Hello!
My 12 year old tabby, Murphy, was just diagnosed a few weeks ago with Diabetes. He had just gotten a Steroid injection in May for really bad allergies and I am now told this could have kicked him into Diabetes. So far, his Blood Sugar is not coming down on Vetsulin and the doctor is now stating he must try PZI or Lantus, which from them will cost 165.00 and 227.00 respectively per 10mil vial. Wow!
I was sort of bouncing around between 2 vet practices before he was diagnosed, one being his main doc since he was 1 month old (25 min from home) and another (2 min from home) which is where he was diagnosed. I was overwhelmed and did not feel like I was getting all of my questions answered and ultimately found The Northern Illinois Cat Clinic where he is currently being treated. They are even farther away from home, but doing a fine, although expensive job of checking him from nose to tail. I was so relieved when I saw their website which answered so many of my questions as I was feeling so lost! The docs are really nice too although no one is available after hours. I am so very happy to have found this website! I was still feeling very alone as I didn't know anyone else with a Diabetic cat. This gives me comfort that in the middle the night I may look up info or even be in contact with someone else who has gone through what I am going through now. I have had many sleepless nights watching over my baby wondering if he was ok, but didn't think he needed to go to the ER. Thank you for being here and providing support.
Sincerely, Murphy's Mom, Donna
